We've teamed up with Kickstart!

After deciding that the Tough Mudder challenge just wasn’t enough, Alex Gowans Brand Manager at Abrasive and Consumable company Abracs ltd, based in York, UK decided a new challenge was in order…To swim the English Channel! (With no wet suit, of course). Not only is this an incredibly tough and intense challenge on it’s own, but the training and preparation required beforehand is a challenge in itself. After reports of Alex taking up much of the communal ‘work fridge’ space with rather large carb heavy snacks, it is no surprise that he now feels ready to give the gruelling 21 miles swim, in 15 degree temperatures and a possibility of 2 metre high waves a shot.

The company have supported Alex from the start with his intense training regime and have also offered to support the charity Kickstart with donations been made on every product sold in their monthly ‘Super 6’ promotions throughout October.

Kickstart are a fantastic charity that provide invaluable support for the people of Africa. ‘KickStart designs and promotes very low-cost, high quality irrigation pumps, enabling poor farmers to make their own rain, significantly increasing yields, incomes and providing a real path out of poverty.’ (Kickstart.org). The work this charity does is truly remarkable and Alex decided that he wanted to try and make a difference. Please support Alex in his endeavours to make a difference, and give generously to this worthy cause.
